WB 30 Animal Classification lapbook

Today we completed our animal classification lapbooks. For our bible time we read more of the commands of Christ. We also listened to the Considering God's Creation song, Creatures God made about mammals, birds, etc.
Nehemiah grouped all the animals together.A scientist already ;) the Kingdom ~Animalia

Then Job sorted the toy animals into 3 group.I did not guide them but let the group the animals in to what they thought the groups should be.Job grouped them in mammals, insects, & sea animals.Angelo divided them further to separate flying insects from crawling insects etc.
We then worked on our lapbooks. It really makes a difference and adds to study when you use living books to teach with lots of pictures and well organized information. So with both the Hands of a Child & the Homeschool Share free animal classification lapbooks the What is an Animal Kingdom Book was a great complement.

Job & Angelo's completed lapbook dividing animals into vertebrates & invertebrates,I also printed out their pictures of their hands on animal classification project to the lapbook.
Here is Angelina & Daniels lapbook covers. They did the Hands of a Child Animal Classification lapbook. It was a great study and well worth my time.

We used Dover stickers to decorate the lapbooks & graphics. They also colored & drew some of their own pictures.I printed out all the mini-booklets on white paper this time instead of colored. I think I like the colored paper more but certain graphic is nice to color so I may print those type of mini-books on white paper.

Daniel & Angel got the lesson but I will need to go over it a few times with Job & Angelo and practice more identifying animals if they are mammals etc. They did not quite get it but the nice thing about lapbooks is you can use them as a teaching tool over and over again. They sure are proud of their lapbooks.Nehemiah wants to do one to so next week I will sit with him and do something simple.

The older students finished up their Biology assignments.
