2014 Hay Season

Today we finished up our hay season! Dominic & Daniel helped a neighbor do their hay.

Titus loves riding the tractor with his daddy on the hay ride to the barn. They all did at that age.

Spurs & cowboy boots for little boys :)

Joe did most of the work while the rest of the family had fun. Charlie comes running to the hay wagon to clean up for us lol.
They love to play in the creek while we load hay in the barn. It was 95 degrees today perfect for hay but too hot for people!

Horseback & mule riding with my kids is what I call heaven on earth !

God has blessed me with children I enjoy. He has also blessed me with my equine family. We have owned horses / mules for 24 years now. When you put the two together its heaven on earth! I ride every chance I get. Today was a beautiful summer morning ride with blue skies & sunlight shining through the trees.
This is my best friend Brighty. He is a paint mule.
Our favorite place to ride is in God's creation.

Angelo & our Shetland pony mule Bullseye. We named him from the movie Toy Story. The day after I purchased him the kids were watching Toy Story and he looked like Bullseye so thats how he got his name.
Angelina is riding Sonador... her horse who was born on our farm. She is now 7 years old. Angel rides her bit-less & bareback everywhere.
This is Charlie Daniel's haflinger mule that a friend gave us. What a blessing he has been. We love mules :)
That's our equine family and their partners.

Notebooking a WB with a binder

I love notebooking. There are so many ways to notebook. If you have a binding machine you can print out a notebook bind and work as you go or when you are finished with the notebook bind all of your work together. These are samples of the works we did in WB 23. Here is the cover of the notebook. We actually did this at the end of the WB so they could put it all together.
.Here are some samples of the resources.
 Medicine
 History

In between each resource I have a page that is the divider. That divider explains why we are studying that area. It always goes back to the front page of the WB reflecting the verse or major concept etc. The coloring pages open up like a cover.

Science for 2014-2015 school year

The elementary kids will be doing Apologia Botany this year.
Daniel will be doing Apologia General Science.
Click here to purchase Apologia products.
My two highschool students will be studying Precepts of Anatomy & Physiology
This will be their spine with addition to The Body of Evidence DVDs
and
My daughter is not real excited about this study but I feel its important . We just studied the Apologia Anatomy for elementary students a few years ago so I did not want to repeat the study. Next time around I will have everyone do Anatomy & Physiology together when the next set of high-school kids go through this course.

We have just read about spiritual gifts from our Advanced IBLP book. It is always good for me and my kids to review this so we can understand our brothers and sisters in Christ. T

1 Corinthians 12:12-27King James Version (KJV)

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular

Biblioplan 2014-2015 school year~* Ancients

I am excited to have found the this curriculum !
I am planning for next school year. We really enjoyed the ACE / Pace curriculum last year and will have it as a backup for days and times life is busy but I wanted to use curriculum that the entire family can do together.
I have not actually used this program yet but I will list the reasons I have choose this curriculum for this coming school year 2014-2015. Click here to learn about Biblioplan

  1. Christ centered /Christian worldview
  2.  entire family can study together k-12th grade so we can take advantages of field trips, movies, read alouds etc. together studying the same time period
  3. 3 day a week schedule the other 2 days we will do Science
  4. Biblioplan Companion is the text book with pictures and information I need to answer question etc. It has pictures and broken down in to bite size interesting information verses chapters of endless information in other text books. Even with my large library we would always get frustrated wasting time searching for information to research and even worse not being able to find it.
  5. Ancient Cool History (littles, middles, upper middles, & advanced) is divided in 4 age appropriate sections that include: questions, hands on ideas, essay, & research assignments . The information needed to answer the questions is found in the Biblioplan Companion :)
  6. Ancients Family Guide~* is the schedule it not only includes the Biblioplan schedule for the week which is all you need for a complete curriculum but has extras. Its like going to Hoss's restaurant. You have the main course but there is a buffet with options to choose your desert, salads etc.The options include  read alouds, literature for the students to read, option spines of other curriculum to go along side etc. I love this because on busy weeks we can stick with the main course or we can add extras. It also has the benefit of adapting to each student. My boys like just the facts mam while my daughter will read books for hours. The suggested books are great living books that are interesting and make the time period come alive.
  7. Biblioplan's website has a section for the extra books recommend that is linked to Amazon  & CBD my two top places to go for buying books. I love that because we have Amazon Prime so I can plan even at the last minute and my books will be there in a few days. Some books I can even purchase for my Kindle. Booklist Link to Biblioplan Ancients click here
  8. Ancients Family Discussion Guide ~* Is not required but its for after reading together or the kids assigned to read to discuss the material together. Its a good tool to see if they were listening or read the material while pulling the family together.
  9. Ancient Hands On-Maps~* There is one for elementary and one for advanced. I really like that all the information is provided for the maps. The map work itself is very hands causing the student to engage with the map study.
  10. Ancient Timeline~* There is a timeline with pictures to cut out and place on the timeline. I love how Biblioplan goes in chronological order. I also like how the timeline has Biblical history on top & Ancient history on the bottom of the timeline so you can see what was going on in the world during that time of the Bible.
  11. Ancients Craft Book & Coloring Book: There are hands on activities suggested in the Cool history but the craftbook & coloring book can add to the study for the younger students.
  12. I love that it covers history in a 4 year rotation. That means my younger kiddos if we stick with it can go through it 2-3 times. With the buffet of options we can change it some or repeat it the same way we went through it the time before but they would do it at another age level regardless of which we decide.
  13. The cost is very reasonable especially for a large family.
  14. Once I have all 4 years it would be a good resource for the Wisdom Booklets which I love!
  15. Since it uses other popular curriculum as optional spines or work like Mystery of History or Story of the World etc. I can easily find notebooking pages , lapbooks, and ideas to go with our studies.

I am so excited to have found Biblioplan. I hope it is a good fit for my family. It sure looks good to me but as homeschool mom I know until I actually use it I will not know if its a good fit for your family. If you want to download a 3 week sample click here.
