Our Daily schedule using the Wisdom Booklets.

I had a page originally of what our typical day looks like doing the Wisdom Booklets but I removed the pages. There a few moms who asked for the information so I thought I would re-post.

Wisdom Booklet: subject ~Bible
Every morning we start with the Wisdom Booklets because we want to start our day with God's word. We sit together as a family and review cover of the WB reading the verse, character trait, & major concept. We then sing the WB hymn together and sometimes other hymns . We then read scripture the WB recommends for wisdom searchers. Wisdom searches is exactly as it sounds we are reading the Bible looking for wisdom from God in His word . The wisdom searchers relate to the verse, concept, or character in some way.

Wisdom Booklet: reading resource
Each student has a WB. Ideally I will read the little peoples text out loud then dismiss those who can't read. This benefits the older students as it is a condensed version and outline of what we will be studying in the resource. The students who can read that remain each take a paragraph to read out loud as we go in a circle reading through the selected resource. I have really found the beneficial in having them practice reading out loud and strengthening their reading skills. I can also help them break up the word if struggling reading. Reading together also benefits we can discuss and relate it to the WB themes. It can take anywhere from 1-3 days to read through a resource sometimes more depending on how much information we are covering.

Wisdom Booklet time is my favorite part of the day. I am always spiritually feed and love the discussions that come out of this time as a family together.

We then do the 3 Rs: Reading , writing, and arithmetic. which include:.

  • Math
  • Language arts : spelling ,writing, grammar, literature
  • reading
Lunch time!

Wisdom booklet projects are done in the afternoon. At this time we do a study and work on a notebook, writing assignment, or lapbook. We also can do hands on projects, crafts, art, chores, movie, read aloud etc. Whatever I have planned for the WB projects.

I hope this helps.

Baby Caleb Michael our 8th son due Jan.7,2015

This is my ultrasound that was done at 6 weeks. I am always amazed to see such a little guy's heartbeat in life within me. It always leaves me in awe of God!!! He is creating this beautiful child.

Psalm 127: 3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
This speaks of a man of God in warfare ...a warrior. The spiritual warfare.
We chose the name Caleb as one of the choices when I was pregnant with Titus. So now that we know there is a little boy on the way, Caleb is the name hubby & I agree on. I had the MaternalT21 test done which is a bloodwork test that looks for down syndrome and it also lets the parents know the sex. So the results came back negative and a baby boy. Another one for team blue!
We chose the name Caleb because he is a hero of the faith we admire. He also was a man of God until his old age. He was a warrior of the faith.

Numbers 13:30King James Version (KJV)

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Numbers 14:24King James Version (KJV)

24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
The name Caleb is identical to the Hebrew word כלב (keleb), meaning dog
On top of this, the word כלב (keleb) may be (mistakenly) seen as a combination of the particle כ (ke), meaning 'like' or 'as if,' and the noun לב(leb), meaning heart or understanding. That way the word כלב (keleb; = dog) means 'as if it has a heart' or 'as if it understands.'

In Arabic Caleb means bold & brave which would be the characteristics of a warrior and the Caleb of old.
The name Michael which we chose for the middle name is also a warrior fighting the spiritual warfare. It is also my father's middle name and the name I named one of my baby brothers when I was a child who died with no name. From the Hebrew name מִיכָאֵל (Mikha'el) meaning "who is like God?". This is a rhetorical question, implying no person is like God. Michael is one of the seven archangels in Hebrew tradition and the only one identified as an archangel in the Bible. In the Book of Revelation in the New Testament he is portrayed as the leader of heaven's armies, and thus is considered the patron saint of soldiers.

Daniel 12:1King James Version (KJV)

12 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.

Revelation 12:7King James Version (KJV)

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
My husband is a mighty warrior of the faith. He has the heart of Caleb.  So Caleb Michael is not only a son given to a mighty warrior but the name the Lord has chosen and laid on our hearts as an encouragement from Him to press on and fight the fight...finish the race.
