WB 22 Science~Computers

Today we did the Science Resource part 2 .We studied computers and used the communication as an analogy of the importance of communicating when reconciling.

Since we studied wolves communication, authority structure etc. Hubby and I took the kids to the puppy store to study canine behavior. Of course they loved that but I think the got more puppy kisses than anything but that is ok because that is dog behavior puppies lick their oms mouth lol

There were so many cute puppies I did not get pictures of them all as I talked to the manager .

Angelina loves wolves so she loved this study so of course her favorite was the husky with blue eyes since it looks like a wolf.

They all had their favorites. Here is some canine play :O) Those little Chihuahuas were very dominate lol

My hubby has wanted a lapdog for a while now.We made it out of the puppy store without a puppy lol

I had a Chihuahua when we got married I was a Veterinarian Technician so I have always loved dogs.He really likes the Chihuahuas every since my Scisco.

The entire family is definitely dog lovers. We have two at home so we were happy to see them and were thankful for them.

Now if I would of picked a puppy there it would of been this one.I could not tell hubby the way he spoils me we would of had 3 and two is enough lol
Did I mention I love my job! I love being a homeschool mom and I especially love the Wisdom Booklets!

Apologia Science

If you use Apologia Science, here is a great sale, or you might find a lapbook that works with a WB and be able to take advantage of the sale that way too. Since we will be studying Botany next year with WB 25 & 26, I have decided to teach the Apologia Botany for my elementary students. My older students will also be doing General Science & Biology, so we are taking advantage of this sale this week :O) I then plan to email it to a printer, so I don't have to print all this out over the summer.

Hello, all! We are getting ready for convention season and decided to have one last BIG sale before that time.

WB 22 Science~Wolves

What a beautiful spring day it was today. I love God's creation so for our read aloud time we went outside. It was so relaxing listening to the birds sing of spring while enjoying our book. I was just encouraged at our local Pittsburgh curriculum fair on how important read aloud time is as a family. Not only does it strengthen the family but the children hear rich vocabulary they might not use daily. Daniel continued to work in his notebook. We used the Draw Write Now Book #4 which we will also use for the WB 25 next school year when we study Arctic & Antarctica explorations.
Angelina filled out her wolf lapbook (only half we will finish the rest tomorrow) that I made over the weekend. I have collected over time educational place mats for breakfast, but they are also great to grab to use in our studies. The older boys took more notes on Native Americans for their writing assignment & continued to work on their research homework for the co-op.
I love FREE products :O) The Lord blessed me with this free wolf mini-books that come with the teaching information(answers). There is also a list of recommended books, which is a great help. You can find it at http://www.homeschoolshare.com/gray_wolf.php So this weekend, I printed out all the mini-books, cut them out, & assembled the lapbook. I decided to do it this way instead of Angelina to save time, so she could just fill out the information in a few days, or you can have a student did it just allow for more than a few days if you decide to do this. I enjoy cutting and so I listened to worship music while I made the lapbook.

I used two colored file folders then taped them together to make a book.

I then used the 3M spray to glue scrapbook paper to the inside of the folders to add color & design. This spray not only saves time but lets the paper lie nice and flat. Since we do not celebrate Halloween this paper was perfect for wolves.
I then used the spray again to attach the mini-books..
The wolf unit also came with some graphics. I used to add wolf pictures as well as some, I took from the Internet. If you have stickers, etc. you can decorate that way or even print the pictures on sticker paper.
The great thing about unit studies like this is not only do they learn about wolves but there is LA, Geography, etc.

Tomorrow Angelina will finish filling in the rest of the mini-books & Daniel will add some to his notebook.

The kids also learned about Russia tonight.A missionary gave a presentation on Russia at church.

WB 22 Science~Wolves

Today we began by completing the Science resource, about wolves. Then Angelina finished her lapbook by doing a who, what, when, & were of David Brainerd while the Dom & Joe worked on their research writing assignment. Then we went to the TOG co-op for the creation science classes. The older boys finished the Answers Academy while the younger students continued working on the Apologia Astronomy curriculum. The Answers Academy was excellent and so important in equiping them with defending the faith in science against evolution!

We also had our Native American Indian feast today, wild caught Alaskan Salmon, corn bread with real maple syrup, wild rice & corn.

WB 22 History~ American Indians

Well today we finished the History Resource officially. Since I love missions I enjoyed reading about a man who has influenced many saints in Godliness & missions. I look forward to finishing the read aloud about David! The elementary students studied the Northwest Indians & the Arctic Indians. Here is a picture of a polar bear Daniel drew.
Angelina's lapbook....

Since last week the older students worked on their research paper for the co-op this week they will work on a research assignment about the Native Americans. Today they did their outline.
We also did science today too. We did the homework due for the creation science classes they are in.

The kids loved this book. I hit two birds with one stone with this book. The story was about an Arctic Indian & wolves. It went in detail about wolf behavior, etc., which will be an awesome opener when we study wolves this week for our science resource study. This would also make a great read aloud for this WB.
