WB 25 Science Resource ~* Botany

We read more of our Science Resource Part 1 today. We then did a lesson in the Young Explorer Series Exploring Creation with Botany from Apologia Science the elementary science books. I just love these books and this is what we use for the elementary students. ATI recommends BJU for the older students which we use and I love this series for the elementary science. My older kids benefit from this too ;)

I also purchased the notebook which has the lesson plans at the beginning. Here is a website that has free Botany notebooking pages you can use with or without this curriculum but they are designed especially for this study.http://www.finders-keepers.net/index.php?id=apologia So each day we will be working on our Botany study for our project. I was excited to do school in the backyard under the apple tree today.

Tonight during family devotions my husband enjoyed the insight of John 15:2 from the Greek and made a metaphor with 2Tim 2:15 and the pruning lesson from the WB today. If the word of God is not divided in truth just like a tree that has not been trimmed properly affected by in time the tree may split or be affected by disease. I will discuss that some more with the kids in the morning when we finish up part 1 of the Science Resource under the apple tree.

WB 25 Science Resource ~* Botany

Today we began our Science resource. I want to do one more day of Egypt but I decided to keep trucking through our Wisdom Booklet as planned .I like to do 2 weeks of History then two weeks of science each month for my projects. That recipe can change with each Wisdom Booklet but it is how I plan the Wisdom booklets in the spring for the following year. My planner book is a tool not my master and a wonderful tool to use as I follow the Holy Spirits leading through out the school year.

So today we began our Science Resource for WB 25 part 1.One of the Advance recommended projects was reading to read the Secrets of the Vine by Bruce Wilkinson which goes beautifully with our Science Resource so we decided to do it as our family devotions. We will work through part 1 of the Science Resource all week. After we read a portion I then had them draw & label the tree from the WB on a nature study notebooking page I purchased some time ago. This can easily be made homemade on Microsoft Word or simply drawn on a regular notebook paper.

Dominic is doing Apologia Biology this year so I had him work on Module 14 which is a module on Botany since we are focusing on Botany in the WB. He did the experiments today and his younger siblings were able to watch and learn. These are some pictures of his experiment to learn how Anthocyanins and ph help determine leaf color this is a re cabbage leaf in the pot. Science is fun :O)

He had fun adding to the experiment trying different ways to get different color. That I enjoyed watching thinking outside the box. That is what science is experiments playing, recording & learning.

Dominic looking at a prepared slide.

We did not get a chance to go outside today:( We will tomorrow. I might have to read our Wisdom Booklet under our apple tree. I wish I would of done that today so we could of looked at the learning process of pruning. There is always tomorrow and I am looking forward to both the science lesson and the spiritual lesson in our Wisdom Booklets tomorrow.

WB 25 Power Through Prec, History Resource

This past week August 30-September 3 we completed both the Power Through Precision and the History Resource.Since today is Labor Day we had day off and enjoyed the hint of fall while we worked outside finishing up some projects before winter. Now I am grabbing a cup of Red Raspberry tea and decided to catch up on my blog.

We enjoyed this resource as always studying the fear of the Lord.

Since it was a long resource we worked through it little by little each day. This was very rewarding because we were able to chew on the meat and gain the nourishment from God's word.

Friday we did the History Resource. We watched a Ancient Egyptians Disc 1 from Netflix that was about the Battle of Megiddo last week, which was in our history resource so we were so excited the reading the account after watching the movie then placing ourselves in back in Egypt as Moses. I pray my
each one of my children will fear God all their lives and not man. I also pray they will have their eyes on the Kingdom of Heaven and not on the riches of this world just like Moses did so long ago. I was enjoying the Wisdom Booklet time discussing so many things the Lord brought up as we read through
the resource.

We continued to study Ancient Egypt .We began a new read aloud which the children are enjoying The Golden Goblet by Eloise McGraw. We also watched Disc 2 of Ancient Egypt The priests of Amun & The Cult of the Apis Bull from Netflix. These movies would be for older students. It gives a good view of Egyptian culture when it comes to the religion of the day.I enjoy it because they use real Egyptian actors and it a movie in a historical account. I always enjoy movies because you notice the small things that you covered during the study that might of not caught your eye without studying the Ancient Egyptians first.

I wanted to begin the Botany this week but there are a few things in the study of Ancient Egypt I want to cover. I can not do a study of Ancient Egypt without looking at the Egyptian gods and 10 plagues. So we will finishing up Ancient Egypt this week and then moving on to Botany which is a perfect time of year to be outside doing school since I love the fall.

We are a science family the kids always get excited to leave history and do science lol. This week will be first week of the WEC co-op.The kids are getting excited for the co-ops to start. Between the holiday & the co-op my week has been shortened so I may skip the WBLA and do it next so they do not feel rushed. We can do review.
