WB 25 Power Through Prec, History Resource

This past week August 30-September 3 we completed both the Power Through Precision and the History Resource.Since today is Labor Day we had day off and enjoyed the hint of fall while we worked outside finishing up some projects before winter. Now I am grabbing a cup of Red Raspberry tea and decided to catch up on my blog.

We enjoyed this resource as always studying the fear of the Lord.

Since it was a long resource we worked through it little by little each day. This was very rewarding because we were able to chew on the meat and gain the nourishment from God's word.

Friday we did the History Resource. We watched a Ancient Egyptians Disc 1 from Netflix that was about the Battle of Megiddo last week, which was in our history resource so we were so excited the reading the account after watching the movie then placing ourselves in back in Egypt as Moses. I pray my
each one of my children will fear God all their lives and not man. I also pray they will have their eyes on the Kingdom of Heaven and not on the riches of this world just like Moses did so long ago. I was enjoying the Wisdom Booklet time discussing so many things the Lord brought up as we read through
the resource.

We continued to study Ancient Egypt .We began a new read aloud which the children are enjoying The Golden Goblet by Eloise McGraw. We also watched Disc 2 of Ancient Egypt The priests of Amun & The Cult of the Apis Bull from Netflix. These movies would be for older students. It gives a good view of Egyptian culture when it comes to the religion of the day.I enjoy it because they use real Egyptian actors and it a movie in a historical account. I always enjoy movies because you notice the small things that you covered during the study that might of not caught your eye without studying the Ancient Egyptians first.

I wanted to begin the Botany this week but there are a few things in the study of Ancient Egypt I want to cover. I can not do a study of Ancient Egypt without looking at the Egyptian gods and 10 plagues. So we will finishing up Ancient Egypt this week and then moving on to Botany which is a perfect time of year to be outside doing school since I love the fall.

We are a science family the kids always get excited to leave history and do science lol. This week will be first week of the WEC co-op.The kids are getting excited for the co-ops to start. Between the holiday & the co-op my week has been shortened so I may skip the WBLA and do it next so they do not feel rushed. We can do review.

WB 25 Theme Song & Hieroglyphics

We did our Theme Song: All for Jesus. This is a great hymn we will sing all month until we learn it well. Hymns are a powerful tool in the spiritual warfare and one day the Lord might use the words to the hymns they learn. There was not much history on this song but the words are powerful and perfect as we focus to remember we do all for Jesus and not to please man.

We then studied Ancient Egypt Hieroglyphics. I purchased a treasure chest with some Egyptian projects. We also went online to make a cartouche with our name .http://www.harcourtschool.com/activity/cartouche/cartouche.html
This is an excellent site for an Ancient Egyptian study.http://www.squidoo.com/egypt-lapbook

WB 25 week 8/9-8/13

We did school all this week but I did not blog until today. I had an ultrasound last week and got the sad news my baby died a month or so ago. I originally began school early to have some special time with the baby when it arrived. I am glad we started school it has kept me busy and my mind off of things.
My printer was acting up so I felt behind.I wanted to print everything during the summer but my printer did not cooperate. We finally have the money so I purchased a new one :O) I can't wait for to arrive.God is good all the time!
We did not do any of the WB this week so it is on top priority.I spent more time getting them on a routine with their further studies. WB always comes first but since we started so early I chalked the first weeks up as getting in a routine.Monday I plan to be back to normal with the WB as the start of our day
This was our fun project for the week. They were archaeologists digging treasures. Inside each pyramid was Egyptian artifacts.

ChuCho decided to dig too!

My older son Dominic is helping the little ones for me.Especially during hard times it is such a blessing to have older children that help.

This is our Cane Corso Sicily who is always guarding her children and loves everyone of them!!

Since I am cramping & showing signs of miscarriage I thought I would sit relax on the couch with the laptop and get caught up with the blog and check the school work for the past two weeks.

WB 25 Major Concept, Med.WS, & Wisdom Quiz

We began school Monday 8/3. s
It always takes a few weeks for both Me and the kids to get back in the routine. So this week I took the time making sure they understand what they are to do. We did not get all the subject
done because I add them slowly and make sure they understand their lessons etc.
I spent a large amount of time on the WBLA this week. I went to IEW seminar at a local homeschool curriculum fair. They stressed to make sure the students repeat the sentences orally before they write them down. This has made a huge difference with the younger students with the WBLA. The older students have used the WBLA for sometime so they just jump right in. By the way WBLA stands for Wisdom Booklet Language Arts.

My husband finally got his lap dog we got a Chihuahua puppy and named him ChuCho which means God is Salvation. This is Nehemiah & Job holding the puppy who loves any ones lap .Behind them is our Wisdom Booklets on a bookshelf :O)

I organized my school supplies a few years ago and what a world of difference it made!! It was worth the time & $. We purchased a large closet cabinet from Home Depot. I have my VOM poster and some missionary pictures on the front to remind me to pray for them. On the inside of the doors on one side I taped the further study focus for the WB.This is helpful for a quick reference. On the other door I have taped the Course Codes & info. on a Carnegie unit for my highschool students. I got these forms from the ATI website.

This is the inside of the cabinet. As you can see I purchased organizers and a label machine to label them. I prefer clear organizers.
I have drawers for my school supplies & scrapbooking supplies. The larger drawers are for my binding machine supplies, crafts stuff, file folders, etc. That is located on the farthest left side. I have a bad habit of keeping everything for crafts. This keeps me in check because if the draw is full then I need to get rid of something before I can add to it.It makes me prioritize.

I have one loose container for whatever I want for it. In the winter I kept my co-op students folders in there currently I have it full with my Apologia Botany kit for the fall.

I have drawers for stickers, paper, notebooks, tape, glue sticks, scraps, clear page protectors etc.
The nice thing is all the drawers come out so we can carry our supplies to were we are working. We will pull out the colored pencil, marker, or crayon drawer then put it back when we are done. This helps my kids keep everything in place.
I use a label machine to label the drawer. They can easily be changed as needs change. I label everything!!!

  1. The drawers are also great to organize the CCC! I also love to use magazine racks to organize my school room. Next to my desk I have three magazine racks.
  • Wisdom Booklet Future ( parent planners for the 8 WB I plan to do in the school year)
  • Wisdom Booklet Planner (planners & WBLA teachers books)
  • Wisdom Booklet Current ( all the students & parents WB currently working on)
Next to my computer I also have my organizer for the Greek & vocabulary cards for the WB.On the very bottom shelf I have all my Dinah Zike books. On my desk I have a small organizer for pens & pencils etc.

Each student has their own magazine rack to place their notebooks, books reading, WBLA spelling notebook etc. They each decorated their own rack awhile back and now the stickers are coming off which I am sure the older students don't mind :O)

I pray this is a blessing to someone or sparks an idea to make your life easier as a homeschool mom!

My favorite blogs :O)
