Wisdom Booklet 28 wrapping it up~Seasons!

Seasons! I am near the end of my 1rst trimester. So I had many fun projects planned & a unit study on the Vietnam War planned for WB 28.I did not get either of those accomplished but that is ok because we got school done.
During the slow seasons of life due t0 need of more rest, illnesses, moving, etc. we slow down on the projects & unit studies and simply just read through the Wisdom Booklets. They are still learning so much! Since we do the WBLA they are also writing about what they learn in the Wisdom Booklets :) This is such a blessing for when you need to slow down but keep pressing on.
The subjects that is a must daily for our family which is basically the WB & 3Rs
  • Wisdom Booklets
  • Wisdom Booklet Language Arts
  • Math
  • Reading

(projects & unit studies are removed during seasons of need)

My high school students are required to still work on their required high school courses that are additional.

Even though we just read through the WB curriculum the Lord still gives us our live classroom! Recently a fellow believer was telling us how his daughter was afraid to leave her house.Once she confessed to God and was free from guilt she was healed. As soon as he was done talking my son Dominic looked me and said with amazement '' we just studied that in the WB(agoraphobia).

Maybe one day God will use what He is teaching them to help others. This is my prayer, hope, & purpose for using the Wisdom Booklets. So even when things are slow Christ is still the center of their school day.I love the Wisdom Booklets in all seasons!!!

Theme song & Vietnam

We did the Theme song WS today. Redeemed by Fanny Crosby. I could not find any history on this song.We have studied Franny Crosby a few times so the students are familiar with that hymn writer. I do love the hymns! http://www.cyberhymnal.org/htm/r/e/redeemed.htm

We then continued our study on Vietnam. Here are some great Vietnam books that we used to study the culture. Lots of pictures which is so important in my opinion when studying how a culture lives. We will spend all month studying both the culture and the war.
I also placed some living books on the Vietnam War to get their appetites wet. I caught a few curious minds and the questions are already coming!

My son Joe wants to do a research paper on Vietnam weapons.

Here is a link to a free Vietnam map.

WB 23 Character Quality WS & Vietnam

We did the Character Quality WS. Our character focus is honor. Honor ~* awareness of how God is working through the people and events in my life to produce the character of Christ in me.This is an excellent study for my children as I believe they need to work on this character in so many ways!

For this WB further study focus I have decided to study the Vietnam War. So today we studied the country of Vietnam. I love studying cultures of the world since I am mission minded. Windows of the World and Operation World are great tools to look at the spiritual needs of the different countries. We used Geo scribe to to record country facts.

WB 28 Major Concept & Commands of Christ #9

We did Command 9 Go the second Mile and turn the other cheek. After we completed the Command of Christ we did the personal application.
1. During this session, God reminded me that I can go the second mile in the area of:
  • personal insults
  • legal attacks
  • civil regulations
  • needs of neighbors

2.I understand now that I should not resist hurtful action by others, but these as opportunities to display the power of Christ to them.

These are a few examples of the challenges to go the extra mile which goes perfect with our verse how do we respond when turning the cheek. You not only turn your cheek but go the extra mile. When you sit and think about the time period this was addressed during Roman rule when the Jews were oppressed and forced to carry the Roman soldiers supplies.Of course we looked at what Christ did going the extra mile for us. As always our hearts were directed to Christ and we were challenged in so many ways.
