WB 26 History Resource & Renaissance

Yesterday we went to the TOG co-op.

Today we did the Wisdom Worksheet section ..What is the significance of Ezra's command to put away strange wives? I enjoyed bringing the two times periods together looking at Ezra in ancient Israel as they began to rebuild Israel, looking at the word of God then looking at the Renaissance period and how the reformers went back to the word of God.

It was also a good time to discuss the importance of being equally yoked and marrying a believer which went with our major concept well marriage vows are for life.We took the time to look at the consequences of Israel and discussed some of the challenges & consequences of marrying unbelievers.

We then watched the Animated Hero Classics Leonardo Da Vinci. The younger students did some activity & coloring pages. I am blessed that this was also from the WEC library. We then studied Renaissance art.

Our challenge in modern Christianity is the same as the Renaissance period the strong grip of humanistic teaching has caused the church to become like the world. We need to get back to the word of God. It is a sad time when even God's people look at children as a burden when they are blessings simply because of the humanistic teaching that has plagued the church.

WB 26 History Resource & Renaissance

Today we studied Martin Luther. Wends. always seem to go so fast and it is the lightest school day of the week. I am enjoying looking at the spiritual state of this time period as we study it and continually being challenged to stand on the word of God. It reminds me of the song..I have decided to follow Jesus. I have decided to follow Jesus .I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back. Though none go with me still I will follow though none go with me still I will follow no turning back no turning back.
Just as it was during the time of Martin Luther so it is today the narrow road to Calvary. We are to be the light bearers though not always easy.

WB 26 History Resource & Renaissance

Well I am beginning to feel better after a long hard few weeks. Our past WB song My Anchor Holds was a joy to sing during family devotions today.

I do not like to stretch out the Wisdom Booklets to much but I wanted to get one more week of the Renaissance in to cover the Reformation since I feel it is important church history. Studying the Renaissance time period helps to better understand what life was like during the Reformation.

I am the librarian at our co-op so I get to see all the fun homeschooling products there are available. I checked out the Reformation Overview hosted by Dr.Ken Curtisn the President of Christian History institute. Today we watched the movie looking at John Wycliffe. I was encouraged by the challenges he faced and how important it is to test everything with the word of God. I then had them make a small mini-book on John Wycliffe recording what they learned.

We also studied the Council of Trent today. I assigned them their research projects from the WB projects. They are due to have a report done by the weekend to the family including Dad.
