WB 24 Insights through Investigation & Civil War

Today we did Insights through Investigations. The verse we focused on was Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. We then furthered the study by doing word studies both in the Greek & English to amplify the meaning.

We then finished up our Civil War lessons. Next week we will begin our study on the Ancient Mayan, Incas, & Aztec cultures. Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt is a great literature book for the students to either read during WB 23 or another choice would be a read aloud. I read the lessons from Amy Packs Civil War Time Traveler Series as a read aloud since the lessons are written in a story. After each lesson they then wrote in the Camp Kettle to journal what they learned to cement the information. I love notebooking and that is what it is all about! The finished product is their own person newspaper that they wrote as they went through the Civil War.

Be Thou My Vision

WB 22 Theme Song & Civil War

Today we did our Theme Song for WB24 Fill All My Vision .Since we do not know this hymn I look forward to learning it & meditating on the song all month. We will also be singing the old Irish hymn Be Thou My Vision since it is one of my favorites and also goes well with this WB.Again I printed out the Hymn WS from the ATI site.
We listened to the hymn history from How to Make Melody in CD 3.I did not realize until today that I can download this CD onto my computer using the Windows Media Player. This will make it so much easier to play than to place the CD in everyday. Now I just have to click on the Media Player and play it. We are always using CD to print something , Math etc. so this will be very convenient for me :O)
We then did two Civil War lessons in the Time Travelers Study and worked on some projects.

This is one of the cool things Amy Pack has designed. She use clear transparency film to layer the uniforms. They also finished up their timeline today. They colored all the Union victories blue and the Confederate victories grey on the timeline.

WB 24 Character Quality WS

Today we did the Character Quality for WB 24 Decisiveness ~* The Ability to finalize difficult decisions based on the will and ways of God

We did the Character Quality worksheet from the ATI site and the 3RS in the am then we went to a park for the TOG co-op end of year picnic.We had a wonderful picnic lunch & fellowship. The kids road bicycles, played basketball, hockey, etc. It was a wonderful day.

WB 24~* Meditation WS & Civil War

Today we did the Mastery Quiz & Meditation Worksheet for WB 24. I always enjoy watching the kids do the verse study and using the tools like a Strong's Concordance. I am always walking away with a deeper meaning when looking at the verse in the Greek and doing a cross-reference of the verse being studied. This is also important because my children see this is not my idea but God's view which is so important.
Lust is a a topic not often addressed but it surrounds us in society from the TV to the Internet etc. so it is good to study what God thinks of what is the norm.

We then did lesson 16 & 17 on the Civil War.Dominic also did further research on the history of the atom.

WB 24~Major Concept & Atoms

Today we did our Major Concept for WB 24. Decisiveness requires convictions. This Wisdom Booklet is a perfect booklet to end before the summer break with the warm season ahead of us and the immodest dress that will surround my young men.

We studied today Command 7 Do not Lust from Commands of Christ series. This Bible study was excellent because showed the seriousness of the lust that is the normal in our society but the importance of how that sin hurts not only that person but all those around them and what God thinks about it. The study went even further showing how Christ had love and compassion when He confronted those sins. This is so important because I don't want the truth to be an excuse to judge.

I look forward to digging into this topic more with summer ahead. They have already challenged me with questions of situations they may be in and how to handle it. So I pray the Lord will give me wisdom on how to answer those questions.

This week we will be beginning WB 24 while finishing the projects and notebook from WB 23. So they did notebooking pages on the history of the Atomic Model from WB23 science resource and decorated the cover of the WB23 notebook. My instructions were to have the cover reflect something they have learned about and reflect a Biblical truth or lesson they learned about in WB23. We have tons of work to do this week because we got behind on our Civil War study and I want to complete everything in our WB23 notebook this week.
