WEC Spring 2010 week 8

Yesterday was week 8 at WEC. Is hard to believe there is only two weeks left in the year.

WB 22~*Mastery Quiz & Life Classroom

Today was our final day in Wisdom Booklet 22. We did the Mastery Quiz orally. This was a great way to review all that we learned . I then discussed the Life Classroom with them.
The afternoon they will be doing the Iowa Basic tests at Grandmas while I finish making their notebooks for Wisdom Booklet 23. So Monday we begin Wisdom Booklet 23. This year is going fast only two more Wisdom Booklets to finish then we will take a summer break :O)

WB 22 Medicine Resource ~Brain

Today the older students continued on the study of the Brain.

I wrote Dominic's assignment in his notebook for him to work on his project. He has a notebook like Daniel but for older students so we added the mini-booklets, anatomy coloring pages, & picture to the notebook.

I scheduled to dissect a sheep's brain today but my husband threw it away by accident so we watched a virtual sheep dissection online. http://www.exploratorium.edu/memory/braindissection/1.html .I plan to order another brain from Tobin's Lab so they can see everything first hand. We also had fun using this site where we read scans just like a doctor. http://www.insidestory.iop.org/insidestory_flash1.html Apologia just came out with a new book for elementary students. I purchased this on sale. It arrived today and its perfect for the Medicine Resource :O) I plan to begin to use it right away starting with the Brain.I will use it like an elementary encyclopedia instead of curriculim.

My elementary students worked on their Astronomy notebook today. There is a few projects we need to finish up to have a completed notebook.

Field Trip ~*Johnstown Flood

Today we went to the Johnstown Flood Museum, Heritage Discovery Center, The Iron & Steel Gallery, and we road the Johnstown Incline.

WB 22 Medicine Resource ~Brain

Today we completed our Medicine Resource for WB22. We then studied the human Brain for our project. The elementary students did a lesson from Considering God's Creation.

The older students worked on a mini-lapbook that they will finish Wed. I wanted to share a fun sight we used today to study the Brain. We also used our Human Anatomy Coloring Book as we studied the Brain.

I just simply glued Daniels notebook page from Considering God's Creation into his notebook he has been working on for WB22. The 3M spray works the best for adding large sheets of paper to a notebook or lapbook.

WB 22 Law Resource~ Polygraph

Today we did the Law Resource. This blog just reflects the many ways the projects can be completed, but it will never show the word of God that is the heart of the Wisdom Booklets. I love seeing the word of God feed my lambs.
We studied the Polygraph and looked at the American laws concerning the lie detector as well as how it works. We also looked at the Bible and God's laws concerning those that lie or hold guilt etc.I can't even explain on this blog, but we really enjoyed this resource as always.Still feeding on the lesson!
We did not do any projects. The kids cleaned the house for Passover tomorrow while I prepared for the last two WB of the year. I plan to make a notebook for WB 23 & a lapbook for WB 24. I also was working on the next school year.
There is a big sale at Currclick, so I have been adding things to my wish list. I like to be able to preview products to make sure they will work with the WB I am planning.

Since tomorrow is Good Friday, there is no co-op. We will be celebrating the Passover one of our Favorite Holidays!
