Survival Camp,,you can't survive without Jesus!

This week in the evening our church had a survival camp. Its a wonderful opportunity to tell others in our community about Christ. Our pastors son stepped up as a youth to begin this a few years ago using his gifts, talents, & hobby to tell others about Christ. So even now as an adult getting ready to be married he continues to serve the Lord by doing the survival camp.
My younger kids love this camp! If my family is not serving they are apart of the camp.Everyone but Titus. He stayed at home with mom. I am still able to be apart of the camps by praying for all these precious souls.
Most of the leaders were the men of the church and our youth. The women are serving in dance camp during the day while the men are at work. After work the men are able to serve in the survival camp. My daughter is serving in both and there are a few other young ladies also doing the same. I am so proud to watch these families working with their children serving the Lord as families.
My two oldest sons Dominic & Joe  giving a demonstration on what you need to pack in case of a survival situation.
My husband is teaching land navigation and applying it to the word of God the Bible which is what we need to navigate through life.
This is our pastors son who started and still runs the survival camp. He is such a man of God and we are honored to know him. He certainly has influenced my sons and pointing them to Christ.
My hubby giving the message. I love to see these guys in God's creation. It reminds me of the serman on the mount.
If you have a gift or talent that God has given you. Use it for the glory of God!!!!

Dance Camp for Jesus 2014

This week our church is putting out a dance camp for girls in the am & afternoon. There is a survival camp in the evening for both boys & girls.

I had the privilege of telling these precious souls about a God who loves them.

I was able to give them the gospel message, the good news. My daughter who is my right hand was there helping me with visuals. I have been praying along side my brothers & sisters for the these little ones. I enjoy seeing the youth step up which is the theme and reach others for Christ. It is also a joy to see God's people use their talents for His glory.
To God be the glory!! If God has given you a talent I encourage you to use it for His glory.

Math U See ~* storing manipulatives

I was storing my Math U See manipulative in the wooden storage box they sell but I found it hard to use so I purchased a 3 drawer scrapbooking 12 by 12 size draws to place everything in. It is now so much easier to use since I am not sliding lids. It also holds more blocks.
The top drawer I have the fraction overlays & Algebra / decimal inserts,
The middle draw is all the blocks except the hundred blocks.
The 3rd drawer I store the hundred blocks.
I really like how it is now easy to use. The only problem is Titus my toddler likes to play with the blocks too :/

Math U See ~* organizing for a week

Our Math U See came in today so I could not wait to organize it!!!
Math U see comes with a video that teaches, teachers manual, student workbook, a test booklet.
I do not want to write a schedule every week especially since I will be printing our Language arts & history every week. So I decided to use the report covers like I did with the history to use each week.
I printed out the seven days of the week for dividers. I love saltbox houses so I used the planner from Mom's home Journal from click here to see Mom's Home Journal at Momstoolbelt.com

So I don't have to print new ones each season I printed each day a new season so I can use the same pages all year round no matter what season we are in.
I then removed a week worth of Math from the student's book & the end of the week test. I then planned out what pages would be done each day of the week and placed them in the report cover in order by the days of the week.

note* 8/25/2014 I am not longer using the report covers but instead made folders. Click here to see the Math folders we are currently using.
 This is the weeks plan:

  1. Monday watch video together & do worksheet A together
  2. Tuesday worksheet B
  3. Wednesday worksheet D & G (G is new it is the application & enrichment page)
  4. Thursday worksheet E
  5. Friday student is to teach me the concept (demonstrate) then take lesson test

After the entire week I have a divider titled extras. This is where I keep the extra worksheets if they need more practice to master the concept. The extra worksheets I have are C & F . One is a mastery & the other a systematic review worksheet. If they need more time it is easy to pull apart the report cover and rearrange the days of the week placing the extra worksheets where they are needed and adding more. There is no need to erase on a written schedule I just take out the worksheets and rearrange them as needed.
Math U See has a worksheet generator you can create & print if your student needs more time mastering a math concept. Click here for worksheet generator. I plan for each lesson to be a complete week. Monday learning the concept to Friday taking a test with practice in between. However, this is a mastery program so I work with the child. They may need 3 weeks to master the math.

I keep the student notebook, test book, &; weeks work in their workboxes. Click here to see my workboxes One advantage to using the report covers is if they loose or spill something etc., which in my house it happens, the entire students book does not have to be purchased. They leave the books in the workbox and only take out the weeks pages to complete their work.
Once they complete their independent work on days they are practicing they place it in my check box on my desk so I can check their work making sure they understand what they are learning.
From there I place them in what I called their done drawer. They have been checked and when it come to portfolio time I just pull out my samples. When the box gets full I place them in a larger container for the end of the year. All the subjects go into the done drawer as they are checked..
