Serving the Lord as a family

One of the things I enjoy about my large family is serving together. I enjoy seeing my children at all ages helping in any way they can. I also love my church family. We are all like minded and all their families come to work together as we all serve as a family.
Next week is a big week for us.There is a dance camp during the day for girls and the evening is a survival camp for boys & girls as an outreach to the community.  My family is apart of both either serving as leaders or in the camp. Well everyone but Titus.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The families are gathering together to prepare for the girls crafts.

The kids are weed whacking & cleaning up preparing for next weeks camp.
I am so proud of these kiddos. I have great joy seeing all the kids in the church always helping & serving in any way they can from cleaning and setting up each week after fellowship meals to preparing for camps.
Joe at the end of the day. It is a blessing to have sons you can depend on.

Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Apologia Exploring Creation with Botany

We are doing Apologia Exploring Creation with Botany this year for Science class with the Elementary students. It is from a Creation Christian world view which is important to me as a homeschool mom.
Each student will have their own textbook. This is a more expensive way to go but I want them reading with me and they will be able to see pictures as they learn. We will also take turns reading paragraphs which benefits them building on their reading skills. Another advantage if its a day I am unable to read with them they can read the assignments on their own with out waiting for a book.Nehemiah will not have his own book. I will have him sit next to me so he can see the pictures as we read together. I placed both their textbook & notebooks in their science workbox. To see our workboxes click here.

We purchased the notebooks that go with the Botany lesson.Nehemiah who will be in 2nd grade will be doing the Junior notebook. The 2 day a week schedule goes perfect with the Biblioplan History course we will be doing this year. Our weeks schedule will be Mon.,Wed., & Friday history and Tuesday / Thursdays Science. As you can see on the schedule the reading assignments ,which are included in the notebooks, are the same but since the notebooks are different the notebook pages to be done are different each day.
Here is a picture so you can see a difference in the two notebooks. In this example older student journal while the younger student cuts out and glues the pictures to the different way seeds are dispersed. This is one example of the differences between the two notebooks.
I will be making index cards of the prefixes & suffixes as we learn them and review each day we do science.
Here is a picture of textbook so you can see the colorful pictures and conversational style of learning. Since we live in the northeast we will be following the winter schedule designed for those who live in the colder climates. I am really looking forward to this school year.

Precepts of Anatomy & Physiology by PAC high school science

Today all of our Science came in so I will be blogging about science in the next few days. Today I will start with our high-school science. We will be using PAC or Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum www.pacworks.com .
I love that this curriculum is in booklet form. It has vocabulary words to read before the lesson, diagrams, worksheets, quizzes, & tests. The main reason I choose this curriculum however is there is no math like Algebra or other science courses required before using the curriculum. I have found this a huge advantage over the Apologia high-school science courses we have been doing up until this point. If they were struggling in math it would affect their high-school future science courses. So for high school sciences we will be doing this curriculum.
The Anatomy & Physiology course is a half credit highschool anatomy course. I will be adding videos & an anatomy coloringbook/ workbook to make it a full highschool credit. Another option is doing this for one semester and the second semester doing Principles. Theories, and Precepts of Biology to create a full credit off Anatomy & Physiology.
Quote from the publisher," One of the objectives of this unit study is to equip teenagers with knowledge and principles with which to make positive life choices that will enhance health and happiness. Thus, students will learn life choices, diet, exercise and even thoughts affect physical and emotional health."  This is one of the reasons I want my high school students studying this course. They will need to make choices about their health all of their lives so I feel it is important to have an understanding of the human body. The Wisdom Booklets Medicine resource also does an excellent job of this.

It is a Christian curriculum from a Christian world view so there are quotes throughout the lessons. At the end of each lesson is a worksheet.
This is the anatomy coloring book we will be doing alongside the study.

There is further information to learn , labeling, coloring to identify the parts.

Missionaries to Papua New Guinea the Magills

We are truly blessed today to be apart of what the Lord is doing in this missionary family preparing for New Guinea. We love missions !
I love having my entire family here learning about other cultures and getting a glimpse of a world view. I also enjoyed seeing other children seeing and learning about missions.

My two older sons Joseph & Dominic watching the presentation.

Angelina, Daniel, & Angelo have been babysitting the last few weeks for this wonderful missionary family during the final few months here in the states as they prepare for a life time in Papa New Guinea.

Next time Titus & Liam see each other it they will be older.
This family is such an encouragement to me and I look forward to see what the Lord has planned for them. The Lord has been preparing them for this and we feel blessed to be apart of it.
