Biblioplan ~planning for a week

One of the things I liked about ACE & Christian Light Education were the booklets which were so convenient verses bulky textbooks. So I thought I would organize the Biblioplan making homemade booklets. You could do this with the Wisdom Booklet projects too. I purchased report covers so I do not have to whole punch my worksheets, I would like at the end of the year or unit to comb-bind the pages making a history notebook at the end of the year.

I then printed out all the worksheets, maps, schedule, & even the Companion for the week.

I then placed everything leaving the schedule on top and placed it all in the report covers.
I then circled and wrote what I wanted them to do for the week on the schedule.
update 8/27/2014 ~* Now I schedule the essay writing assignments for my highschool students right on the Cool study sheet.

I have the hardcopy for myself that I use to plan for the year and week. I have a a hardcopy of both the companion & Family guide.

Since I use workboxes I then fill their box. Since I have so many kiddos I also have a book basket with the books in it that they need to share on top of my workboxes.

Curriculum choices for 2014-2015 school year

I finally have decided on the entire school year. So this is our list for the
2014-2015 school year.It may change but I am excited to give some new things a try and using other curriculum that has worked in the past.

We love our ATI Wisdom Booklets and feel the Lord has clearly called us to use them. We have been using them slowly for the past 12 years and will continue. I love the that it not only teachers the word of God but character. I think teaching character is so important as we must address not just knowledge but the heart.

Proverbs 23:12

12 Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge.
So we will continue starting our mornings with the Wisdom Booklets then doing our reading, writing, grammar, math, etc. the 3Rs .Instead of doing the WB projects in the afternoon Monday, Wed. & Friday we will be doing Biblioplan history together. I am excited to have them learn history in order including the Bible to see what life was like during the Bible times. Tuesday & Thursdays will be our Science days were we will be looking for the glory of God in His creation.

Curriculum shopping Biblioplan, Wisdom Booklets, Apologia etc.saving $

I just purchased all of my Science curriculum for the year & Literature readings we will be reading for week 1 of Biblioplan.

Here is how I shop to compare prices to get the best deals.

  1. I check off all the books I choose to use whether its curriculum like Apologia,  literature books etc. , Language Arts, Ace, etc. whatever you are shopping for at the moment.
  2. Next I go to CBD and fill my shopping cart with all the things I plan on purchasing. They have good prices for new products. Click here to go to CBD
  3. I then leave that page open and shop for used or a better price. Somethings like Apologia notebooks or workbooks I like to purchase new just because I don't want any writing in the books where my children will be writing. Other books like read aloud , textbooks etc. I try to purchase used.
  4. There are many places to purchase used curriculum & books.  My favorite places are Ebay & Amazon. You simply go to you favorite bargain websites and search to compare prices.
  5. Once I find the best deal I purchase then go to my CBD cart and delete the item I found at a better price on another website. You must consider the cost of shipping when finding a bargain.
  6. After I have shopped I purchase what is left over in my cart. I Google search CBD free shipping to find coupons on shipping. Most of the time you can get free shipping with orders of $100 or more and often for shipping of $35.00 or more.
  7. I also have Amazon Prime which is a big help on shipping and worth while for me as a homeschooler.
  8. Another great option that is free is the library.
When comparing to new prices I love finding bargains that will save me $ . I need to be a good steward of the $ and homeschooling is not cheap. It is worth it to me to purchase Christ centered materials that will equip & educate them for life.

Do you have any favorite places to bargain shop you would like to share?
