WEC cancelled

Today our co-op was cancelled due to weather which worked out for me since am not feeling well today. So we spent the day doing Language Arts.We were behind in our lessons so we spent the day getting caught up which was great. We use two LA programs the Wisdom Booklet LA which they do on their own and the Bridge to Latin Road which I do with them and I got behind with the electrical outages etc.so I am so happy to be caught up again!
Dominic helped Dad fix the leaking plumbing after he got home from work so he was able to compare a plumbing valve & a heart valve.God is the author of all designs. We are fearfully and wonderfully made!

WB 21 Medicine Resource ~Heart

We studied the heart today. Here is a valve made from a toilet paper roll. The older students simply used Post-It notes, notebook, and we cut up anatomy coloring book pages to make our homemade notebook pages with a few mini-booklets.

After we labeled the heart I had them sum up what the purpose of each side of the heart function was.
They also studied the difference between an artier & vein.

note:double sided tape & tape is a major time saver!!!!
They had to hold their hand up for 1 minute.

Wow look at the difference.

The elementary students used The Body Book to make a model heart.

Gotta use living books!

The inside & outside of the heart.

I wanted to strengthen the outer part of the heart for the lapbook so used the 3M spray to attach it to a clear projector film.

The non-school aged students loved looking at the model heart.
A heart is a muscle.

The Books & charts we used to study the heart.I also used Biology Coloring book.I love using coloring books to teach!

I planned on dissecting a heart today but ran out of time so tomorrow after co-op.

WB 21 Medicine Resource~Heart

Today the older students finished reading Sergent York & the Great War.
Today we woke up very early to start school! My oldest son was invited by another Christian family to go snow tubing with their son. They called last night and I did not want to say no because we want to encourage friendships with other Christians. I did not want to not do our Wisdom Booklets today so I can keep on schedule so we got up very early to do the Medicine Resource.

We studied the effects of anger on the heart and there are many. This was such a good study.I love to see medicine through the filter of God's word.God wants us not to sin not only because He wants to fellowship with us but He knows sin literally destroys us! This is so important for my kids to understand. They are going to start an anger log and study themselves. They are to list their symptoms lke grinding teeth & what why they are angry. This is a perfect time to confess their sin to God so he can change their heart.

They also understand there is a time to be angry and sin not. This can only be done by the power of God.We are to get angry at the terrible things in the world like abortion but we must not handle the situation in anger that is sin.Great study and you bet I will be studying myself too!

Anger can affect others and yourself.

Seek Christ to be free from Anger

Since I am close to the end of WB21 I also looked over next WB plans to make any changes or purchase items , make a list of anything I might need.Monday wraps up WB21.I plan to spend the rest of the day planning for next year and then off to church.

WB 21 Law Resource & World War 1

Today we finished our Law Resource.
Our study today was focused on the laws of God dealing with murder. We studied the cities of refuge. So we then made a mini-booklet here is how we did it.

We wrote the priests duties concerning the law under our priest picture.
What I did to start the project was scan in the map and picture of the priest from the WB.I then cropped and enlarged the pictures then printed both out.I used to cut up my WB but now I am saving the WB now for when they graduate.Which was a great idea I got from the Wisdom Searcher group.

I used my scrapbook tools to make the flaps.
We made the mini-book like a book so on the front cover I used arrow shaped post-it notes to define murder & homicide. Then glued an index card were they listed the different types of homicide.
Finally they studied gases used in World War 1 and did notebooking pages.

WB 21 Law Resource & Volcanoes

Don't let Anger build up like a volcano! Daniel could not wait for today to finally have the volcano model erupt!!

Older students recorded their observations while the younger drew their observations.

We did half of the Law Resource today & we will finish the rest tomorrow since it is a larger study. We studied the 6th commandment Thou shalt not murder then looked at the American laws of murder and the terminology.I enjoyed the oral discussion with my kids because they had allot of curious questions concerning murder both in the Bible & US law.
We then finished our volcano study today.Daniel told me Friday he could not wait until Monday so he could finally make the volcano they made erupt. We removed the 2 liter bottle that was in the originally and placed a medicine bottle in the top.

Here are some of our ingredients used in our experiments.I purchased Types of Volcanoes from Currclick http://www.currclick.com/ which comes with the observation sheets etc.

Job is drawing his observations of all three experiments.

Nehemiah has to be like his big brothers & sisters.

They timed each eruption. This was a slow moving lava.

Everyone took turns adding ingredients.

Bubbling lava

Here it goes....slow moving down the volcano

Our little vulcanologist fell asleep from all the excitement lol

Our grand finale we removed the medicine bottle and placed a 2 liter bottle inside the volcano then we added mentos.

Mindeks in Macedonia

We had a great time today at church.A missionary to Macedonia gave a presentation for church & Sunday school. They did an excellent job.We learned allot about the culture and was very encouraged!! Thanks to Popi & Grandma who lent us ther van so we could make it to church :) We LOVE missions and the cultures of the world. To me the best teaches of culture and the world are missionaries !
As soldiers of the cross we must have a Christian world view.I was encouraged to pray and challenged to make a difference in my Jerusalem.
